Abstract
The influence of γ-radiation on the changes of electron work function has been investigated in the case of Pt, Au and Co covered with its own oxide layers. The application of the dynamic condenser method used in our laboratory made possible both the irradiation and measurement of the work function in vacuum of the order of 10−5 mm Hg. The influence of total dose of gamma radiation on the work function has been measured for surfaces of different degrees of oxidation.
